24. A Setback
The avalanche that knocked the thieves out was caused by Flammulina. It had been she that rolled downhill as a huge snowball to rescue Stellaria!
“Rats!” Stellaria said to herself. How could she now leave the stubborn sheep to the mercy of the thieves and go save Rattus. She wasn’t on a mission to save the whole world! She wanted just one stupid rat back to Cloud Thirteen. Besides, the sheep knew what it was doing, had always had a head of its own (though little brains in it). Flammulina would figure out a way to get free.
While roasting merrily on an open fire… the words drifted into Stellaria’s mind. She tried to repress the thought but the couldn’t. She tried to take a sprint towards town but her wings refused to work. There was no way, she had to go back and save Flammulina.

Back in the city the the arena remained empty. The band everybody was expecting hadn’t shown up and the crowd was getting restless. What was keeping them?
